At 11.16 on New Year’s Day around 40 people (plus lots of dogs) convened at The Cross, ready for the off. The rain stopped just in time for the start of the 2022 Stonesfield Stumble. Soon we were heading down Well Lane and up the Oxfordshire Way.
The going was very muddy, as Graham had warned, so everyone was well prepared for the conditions. The dogs had a great time and soon blended into the landscape, lots of washing was going to be needed once they were back at home.
Crossing the Charlbury Road we were briefly back on tarmac before heading across the fields at Lodge Farm, through Harry’s Plantation and already on the way back to the village.
Back onto tarmac and past Callow Farm before stopping for a group photo at the (closed – shame) White Horse. A little tired, the group split up… some off to the Sports & Social and others to the comfort of home.
All were safe in the knowledge that a New Year tradition had been reestablished and a lot of catching up had been done.
Hopefully 2022 will be a good year for everyone.
