Moths have been recorded from the 1 acre meadow off Brook lane and in the surrounding gardens as far as the bottom of the Churchfields allotments. The trap I have on loan is a battery 6W actinic heath trap. In June and August 2025 Peter Cuss from UTM kindly came with a generator driven Robinson trap ( a professional trap) recording species seen. (Not numbers of moths)

The Actinic trap is in a wheel barrow in a garden next to the meadow.

Some months have more collecting nights , better weather or far worse, hence the variations. Species can occur in several months the total number of species to 18th June 2026 is 242, about 1000 moths seen. Over the year I have also improved. June 2025 and 2026:  79 species seen 352  moths. (Peter Cuss came with a Robinson trap, the best trap, in 2025)

June has several large and colourful moths, a real help for a complete amateur.

Elephant Hawk moths are a great start, settled in the egg box inside the trap.
