Recent developments
Craig and Barbara are organising a busy and growing calendar of events ranging from Fish Friday meals to Board Game evenings, and the recent Rock’n’Roll Bingo night was a hugely enjoyable sell-out. The Bring and Share bookshelves are doing well, and the pub walls are a constantly changing kaleidoscope of local artistic talent. The White Horse has also been the distribution hub for the Reverse Advent Calendar food boxes, and many in the community are looking forward to finishing the annual New Year’s Day Stumble with a drink and a bacon butty (preorder by 21st December) at the pub.
Many thanks are also due to the Gardening Club, who were braving the weather recently to cut back the vegetation encroaching on the car park, in order to maximise its capacity.
Craig, Barbara and their team continue to inject character, warmth and no end of good food into the pub, and we’re looking forward to raising a glass with them to toast their first Christmas and New Year with us.
An invitation to invest in our NEW share offer
Our campaign to ensure that the White Horse remains a thriving community asset into the future continues with an important invitation to invest in our second share offer. The funds are needed to help us complete the next vital phase of our campaign: safeguarding the long-term operational security of the pub by increasing inclusivity and financial resilience.
The share offer is now open, and the projects covered will focus on the following areas:
- Ensuring Accessibility: Creating a truly inclusive space for everyone by improving the entrance areas for greater accessibility, remodelling the toilet layout to include accessibility and changing facilities, and remodelling the bar area for better access.
- Protecting Infrastructure: Preserving our valuable community asset by replacing failed windows, carrying out further essential roof repairs, improving insulation and combatting damp.
- Futureproofing Income: Building business resilience through the conversion of the old cellar building into short break and holiday accommodation.
