As previously reported the Speed Indicator Devices record data on traffic flows and speeds. An extract of this data is given to the Parish Council at their monthly meetings.

Below is some of the data that has been collected over recent months. Note that the dates of charts are not identical as the two SIDs are moved to cover the different locations. In each graph the numbers recorded are ‘vehicle readings’ which is not the same as individual vehicles as a single vehicle can be seen more than once by the SID.

Laughton Hill


The chart shows data collected on vehicles entering Stonesfield between 5th June and 16th August. The average speed was 26mph and the maximum recorded (inside the 30mph limit) was 55mph. 18.6% of vehicles were exceeding the 30mph speed limit.

Combe Road

The chart shows data collected on vehicles entering Stonesfield between 28th June and 26th July. The average speed was 24mph and the maximum recorded (inside the 30mph limit) was 59mph. 10.4% of vehicles were exceeding the 30mph speed limit.

Woodstock Road (at the War Memorial)

The chart shows data collected on vehicles entering Stonesfield between 9th April and 28th June. The average speed was 22mph and the maximum recorded (inside the 30mph limit) was 75mph (on Friday 7th May between 23.00 and 00.00). 5.5% of vehicles were exceeding the 30mph speed limit.

Woodstock Road (at the chicane)

The chart shows data collected on vehicles exiting Stonesfield between 26th July and 18th August. The average speed was 26mph and the maximum recorded (inside the 30mph limit) was 82mph (on Sunday 8th August between 14.00 and 15.00). 21.0% of vehicles were exceeding the 30mph speed limit.
