Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is looking for local volunteers to join its Pothole Super User scheme  and Stonesfield has been encouraged to take part. The Parish Council is now asking residents who are willing to volunteer and help speed up road repairs in our village.

What Is a Pothole Super User?

“Super Users” are trained local volunteers who are given:

  • Simple, practical training
  • Basic equipment for marking potholes
  • direct reporting route into OCC’s Highways team
  • Priority handling of the defects they log

By marking potholes on the ground and reporting them through the Super User channel, repairs are carried out much more quickly than ordinary FixMyStreet reports. OCC currently has around 200 Super Users county‑wide.

Why Do We Need Them?

Our OCC councillor acknowledged that potholes across Stonesfield remain a serious safety issue, with many temporary repairs failing due to weather and water leaks. Their team will be re‑reporting defects during a visit to the village, but volunteer support makes a significant difference to how quickly repairs can be carried out.

Having a Stonesfield Super User would:

  • Help ensure dangerous potholes are marked immediately
  • Improve road safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians
  • Reduce delays caused by long reporting chains
  • Strengthen our community’s voice when escalating problem areas

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone who:

  • Lives in Stonesfield
  • Can safely move around the village on foot
  • Is comfortable taking photographs and applying ground markings
  • Wants to help improve road safety for all

No specialist experience is needed. OCC provides training and all required equipment.
