SAFER’s Community Speedwatch volunteers carried out their first session of 2022 on Wednesday 1st June. The high-vis jackets acted as a deterrent for almost all of the drivers.
Now further sessions are planned at Thames Valley Police approved sites throughout the village. During June it is hoped that all current CSW volunteers will be involved. Additionally Thames Valley Police are giving a speed gun to SAFER, on loan for 6 months, so more sessions can be organised.
Some questions have been asked about Thames Valley Police’s actions on receiving the data. The actions, once TVP have validated data, are:
- Speeders – TVP will send a letter. After 3 letters TVP will visit driver
- Untaxed vehicle – DVLA will start prosecution
- No MoT – TVP put on ‘watch list’ and prosecute when found
- Untaxed & No MoT – TVP will put on ‘hot list’ and seize vehicle when found
