Now that Oxfordshire County Council have completed their traffic survey (see separate article for details) SAFER started the Community Speed Watch (CSW) traffic recording using the Traffic Technology radar purchased by Stonesfield Parish Council. This is the equipment approved by Thames Valley Police.
Details of vehicles exceeding the speed limit by the prescribe amount are recorded by CSW volunteers and sent to Thames Valley Police for recording on their database. Although no prosecution can result from these reports, Thames Valley Police say they will visit persistent offenders. Additionally, if they will use the data provided to decide where and when to deploy their radar equipment and will then prosecute offenders.
CSW will be continuing their work throughout 2019 and will periodically publish the results.
