Stonesfield has changed a lot since this map was drawn up in 1792. Most of these changes have happened by ‘accident’. Stonesfield looks like it does today through gradual, or sometimes rapid, evolution with very little input from the residents.

Now Neighbourhood planning is a new way for communities to have a say in the future of the places where they live and work. It gives communities the power to produce a plan with real legal weight that directs development in their local area. It helps them:

  • choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built
  • have their say on what those new buildings should look like
  • grant planning permission for the new buildings they want to see go ahead

Communities can get tailored advice, support and grants to develop their neighbourhood plans.
